How do I check if my Android device supports eSIM?

Determining eSIM Capability

To determine if a device supports eSIM technology, you need to verify if the manufacturer includes an eSIM. However, there are cases where a device may be listed as eSIM-capable but does not actually support eSIM technology. This can happen because Android devices can be customized by manufacturers and carriers, leading to variations in eSIM capability. To check if your Android device supports eSIM technology, there are specific steps you can follow.

For Samsung Galaxy devices:

  1. Open the settings app.
  2. Navigate to the “Connections” section.
  3. Tap on “SIM Manager.”
  4. If the option to add an eSIM is available, it indicates that your device likely supports eSIMs.

However, it is important to confirm with your device manufacturer or primary carrier for certainty.

For Google Pixel devices:

  1. Open the settings app.
  2. Go to “Network & Internet.”
  3. Look for the “+ sign” beside SIMs.
  4. If the “Connect to mobile network” page has a “Download a SIM instead?” option, it means that your device is eSIM-capable.

Again, it is advisable to confirm with your device manufacturer or primary carrier.

For other Android devices:

  1. Dial “*#06#” and press the call button.
  2. This will show your device’s eSIM unique identification number (EID) if it is compatible with eSIMs.

Additionally, your device needs to be carrier-unlocked to use an eSIM. To check if your Android device is unlocked, you can remove your phone’s SIM card and replace it with another SIM card from a different carrier. If you can make a call with the new SIM card, it means your phone is unlocked. Otherwise, if you encounter issues or see a notice on the screen indicating that the phone is locked, it means it is locked to the first carrier.

If you still have doubts or concerns about eSIM capability, it is recommended to reach out to your device manufacturer, vendor, or primary carrier for confirmation. If you need any further assistance or have questions, you can contact the support team for help.
