How can I receive SMS and calls while connected with my data-only eSIM?

Setting up and Using eSIM on Your Device

eSIM is a feature that allows you to have an additional line on your device for data-only purposes, while still using another line for voice calls and SMS. In this section, we will guide you through the process of enabling and setting up your eSIM, as well as configuring your device to use it for data.

Checking Plan Type

Before proceeding with the setup, it is important to check the Additional Information details of your eSIM to determine its specific plan type. This information will be helpful when configuring your device later on.

Enabling the Default Voice Line

To use your primary line for voice calls and text messages, while utilizing the eSIM for data, you need to enable the Default Voice line. The steps to do this may vary depending on the type of device you have. Below, we have provided instructions for popular operating systems:

iOS Devices:

  1. Go to SETTINGS and tap on CELLULAR.
  2. Tap on your Main/Primary line.
  3. Toggle on the option “Turn On This Line”.
  4. Go back to the Cellular page and tap on Default Voice Line.

Select your Main/Primary line as the default voice line.

Next, select Cellular/Mobile data and ensure that your eSIM is selected for mobile data.

Samsung Devices:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to access the notification panel.
  2. Tap on CALLS.
  3. Select your Main/Primary line for calls.
  4. Repeat the same steps for SMS, ensuring your eSIM is selected for mobile data.

Pixel Devices:

  1. Go to SETTINGS and tap on Network & Internet.
  2. Select SIMS.
  3. Select your Main/Primary line and toggle on USE SIM.
  4. Tap on CALLS PREFERENCE and select your Main/Primary line.
  5. Repeat the same steps for SMS PREFERENCE, and ensure your eSIM is selected for mobile data.

Following the steps above will enable you to have your Main/Primary line set for calls or SMS, while using the eSIM for mobile data.
